I did not expect to post on my blog today (was actually trying to put it out by this weekend pero woahhh i had to go through thousands of pics) but after scrolling through instagram last week? there was absolutely no way… I can go without doing so!

but first let’s jump into a quick a story time!

In February 2015, my life radically positively changed – especially on the career front.

Side note: 2015 was a very significant year for me; as I was leaving a relationship of almost 10 years; my health was deteriorated – as I was the heaviest I’ve had ever been at the time and my PCOS was on a whole other level.

In 2015, I was one of those makeup artists that was always posting up close & personal photos of my eyeball, close ups of some lips shades or lip looks lol and just trying to make a name for myself in the upcoming Instagram world. Way before editing apps too; you were cool if you made a collage of photos that fit into a square with the free watermark, ya dig? Ha!

Either way; I was presented with an opportunity to try out/interview for a makeup artist position for a Spanish TV show which at the time I understood as “Sopa de algo”. Ironically; I’d never really watched TV especially Spanish TV with the exception of “Caso Cerrado” of course. Also at that moment in time, my son & I had moved back to my parents house. So when chatting with my mom about the interview… she was just so mega excited, made me a bit nervous really lol…bueno, because she knew exactly what show I was referring to.

After that interview took place, fast forward a month later; I was presented with the opportunity to be the full-time makeup artist for Suelta la Sopa! – gracias Xiemena!

the universe works in mysterious ways & although I was at such a vulnerable place in my life? I was presented with the opportunity of a lifetime. 

Working at Suelta la Sopa for almost four years completely and radically changed my life… 360° and I don’t say this lightly.

Not only to define me as a makeup artist but also taught me so many things; like for one, becoming a faster makeup artist haha… pero no seriously lol time was short, many faces, many glams & no time for if’s and or buts –  you had to make it work… now being a faster and efficient makeup artist is really all thanks to Suelta.

At Suelta too; I seriously improved my spanish & learned all sort of different international words. Words like “zarcillos, chama, vale…no dale (ese ya lo sabia), arrecho, achinar pestañas…pero con cuchara” no… es en serio…una cuchara de verdad de metal (coolest trick ever) osea ya saben cosas así ha!

I also learned numerous things, things that you only learn throughout the process of working a full time daily aired tv production. Let’s call them tricks of the trade. Expect the unexpected ha!

Most of all I’m most thankful for everybody that I met working at Suelta, Genuinely; got to meet some real amazing individuals!

Had some awesome insightful conversations in the makeup rooms with great minds, shared lot of amazing moments together and even not so nice ones together…. just like a family,

A show that was so significant to my growth, personally, spiritually and professionally. I will be forever thankful. ♥

Working at suelta was most def an absolute memorable experience!

Listen…. for a show to even go past 3-4 years? That’s immeasurable in the TV world! Suelta? Exceeding that making it to 8 years on the air! Comes to show how closely tight this production was; it was almost if not like a family and I am so happy I was able to be a small part of that experience.

Let’s recap a few awesome moments I had on the working with the show, a few glams of course yiiii and just overall… a lot of awesomeness within a few years with I had with Suelta la Sopa!
